In this article, workplace communications and training consultant Ginny Barnes highlights the workplace tensions as Generation Y young adults replace their baby‐Boomer parents on the job. The author points out that Gen Y staff bring different expectations to the workplace. These young people are, for example, cynical about current leadership and want to be able to trust their workplace leaders; they need parent‐style coaches to help them face the intractable problems that always show up in the workplace; and they are more expert at electronic than interpersonal communication. Barnes says that Gen Y'ers can become good workers but only with some innovative management efforts to help make them so.     

Providing Library Services for an Enterostomal Therapy Nursing Education Program

Serving a hospital-based educational program such as the School of Enterostomal Therapy (E.T.) provides the opportunity to teach library skills and expand library services to meet the needs of a growing specialty. This article includes: a synopsis of the E.T. educational program, a history of the specialty, and an explanation of the separate library services provided to students and faculty. Search strategy developed to more easily access literature pertinent to the E.T. nurse is described and examples given.

新生代农民工在城市融入过程中面临着许多问题,其中最迫切需要解决的一个问题就是如何在最短时间里提升自己的信息素质。而社区图书馆的全员性、开放性和灵活性等特点,成为最适合新生代农民工的教育形式。本文分析了新生代农民工信息素质的现状和社区图书馆对新生代农民工信息素质教育中的作用,提出了社区图书馆实施信息素质教育中所采取的措施。     

‘It's the end of the university as we know it (and I feel fine)’: the Generation Y student in higher education discourse

This paper examines discussions of Generation Y within higher education discourse, arguing the sector's use of the term to describe students is misguided for three reasons. First, portraying students as belonging to Generation Y homogenises people undertaking higher education as young, middle-class and technologically literate. Second, speaking of Generation Y students allows constructivism to be reinvented as a ‘new’ learning and teaching philosophy. Third, the Generation Y university student has become a central figure in concerns about technology's role in learning and teaching. While the notion of the ‘Generation Y student’ creates the illusion that higher education institutions understand their constituents, ultimately, it is of little value in explaining young adults' educational experiences.

作为一种政府主导的行政问责性评估模式，“双一流”建设评估面临着理念困境、主体困境、方法困境和结果困境。结合我国高等教育评估现状，第四代评估理论对“双一流”建设评估的启示包括：确立发展性评估理念，实施分类评估；构建多元主体“全面参与”的平等协商机制；将“质的研究方法”和“量的分析”有机结合；重视评估结果的“共同建构”。然而，第四代评估理论本身存在的一些不足则需要引起我们的反思：一方面，坚持建构主义方法论容易陷入相对主义和主观唯心主义的误区；另一方面，第四代评估理论强调所有的利益相关者都参与评估活动的主张缺乏可行性。

中国化"在路上"话语反思

上世纪90年代后期以来,“在路上”成为中国文学界的流行话语,它源于“垮掉的一代”(BG)作家凯鲁亚克的小说《在路上》(On the Road),其起源语境、语义与BG相关。小说中BG伙伴横穿美国,在路上酗酒、吸毒、滥交,反抗美国现存体制,体验主流文化之外另一种生活。他们为一种莫名的想望不知疲倦地奔走,在疯狂中感觉自我,所以“在路上”语义非常复杂。中国移植者将它从其起源语境中剥离出来,抽空其原义,对其作望文生义的理解,使其抽象化、普泛化,弱化了它对于中国文化建构的价值与意义。     

废墟上的先锋——论第六代电影的后现代性

第六代是市场时代的电影先锋,以边缘人群和底层世界为主要表现对象,而破碎性和差异性是其突出的后现代表征。基于内在的商品化诉求和后殖民趋向,第六代电影逐渐丧失先锋性,其先锋的文化使命面临终结。第六代电影的意义在于建立了一种后现代的电影诗学,纪录并反映了当下中国话语杂陈、价值多元的文化格局。
