复调:从音乐到小说——解读库切《凶年纪事》的音乐结构

"复调音乐大师"巴赫通过高超的复调手法,将复调音乐发展到了极完美的境地,巴赫金则将复调引入小说理论体系,而南非后殖民文学代表人物J.M.库切将音乐和小说的复调性渗透到他的文学创作中,2007年出版的小说《凶年纪事》在形式上和内容上都表现了故事的单声部纵向发展,而且还体现了不同声部的横向发展。三个声部的合音,组成了一曲完整而又跌宕起伏的完美乐章。库切通过不同的叙述角度塑造独特的人物、故事情节、叙述艺术,对文学与政治、文化与民族等诸多重大问题展开探讨,以此体现独特的审美特征。     

Irish post-primary students' attitudes towards ethnic minorities

The changing ethnic make-up of Irish society has impacted upon schools. Existing, largely qualitative studies have highlighted mixed attitudes towards ethnic minorities. Literature has also focused on the role of the state in articulating a discourse that shapes school-level responses to minorities. This paper critiques the idea of a unitary state discourse and the role of other educational bodies, such as schools, in drawing upon a range of alternate public discourses to shape how they act, is identified. Drawing upon a large quantitative study involving 4970 post-primary pupil respondents, this paper finds that many Irish post-primary students report low levels of social distance from Black African Immigrants, Muslims and Eastern Europeans. Negative attitudes are most prevalent with respect to members of the Travelling community. The potential positive impact of school-level programmes – such as those related to global justice and inequalities – is identified through the lower levels of negative attitudes towards ethnic minorities reported by Transition Year students who have experienced such programmes.     

Growth of the ‘Transition Year’ programme nationally and in schools serving disadvantaged students, 1992–2011

The Transition Year (TY) programme has seen large increases in the number of participating schools and students since the 1990s. However, existing documentation of this growth has been intermittent and sometimes inconsistent. This paper documents in detail the changes seen in school provision and student uptake for the 19 years from 1992/1993 to 2010/2011, drawing on data provided by the Department of Education and Skills. Issues considered include the mainstreaming of TY in 1994, cohort participation rates (proportions of junior cycle students progressing to TY), school type and student gender. Particular attention is given to provision and uptake of the programme with regard to students from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds. This is examined through the use of both school-level (school participation in schemes aimed at addressing socio-economic disadvantage) and student-level (possession of a medical card) information.

‘Lessons Learned’ from introducing universal strategies designed to support the motor and functional skills of Reception and Year 1 children in a sample of primary schools in South East England

This article describes an evaluation of universal resources designed to support motor development in Reception and Year 1 children. Four schools (Year R–Year 6) in the South East of England, three with high numbers of disadvantaged children participated. Senior leadership influenced take up of the initiative. Health and well-being practitioners and occupational therapy students contributed to ‘roll out’ of the resources with support provided by the authors over 12 weeks. Interview and focus group data from participating staff were gathered alongside examples of schoolwork from pupils. School staff needed access to support when incorporating universal strategies. The initiative contributed to schools working towards Healthy Schools targets. At the end of 12 weeks, improvements in children's sitting position, handwriting and lunchtime skills were noted, warranting further exploration of this approach to address the needs of children with poor motor skills at school entry.

中国四大年画之一的绵竹年画具有浓郁的乡土气息和独特的艺术风格,它现在正处于以旅游促发展的复兴时期。虽然绵竹年画的旅游开发已成功起步,年画博物馆及年画村等都具有一定的影响力,但从实际调查情况看,其中仍然存在不少问题,可以从改变博物馆的经营方式、充实年画村景点内容、集中年画作坊等方面改善绵竹年画旅游现状。
