Youth Perspectives on Parental Career Influence

The role of parents in youth career development is generally acknowledged though, often, perfunctorily. This inquiry examines youth perceptions of parental influence on their career development. We ask young men and women about specific career development attitudes and behaviors that bear on their relations with their parents. The sample consists of survey data from 362 high school juniors. The results confirm the trend of recent studies that report compatibility between parent and youth values, aspirations, and plans. Of all the people to whom youth can turn for help with making career plans, most look to their mothers. The findings apply across gender, to young men as well as young women; and they apply across race, to minority youth as well as majority-culture youth. The results underscore the importance of parents as allies and resources for career counselors in facilitating youth career development.

国外就青少年问题行为成因的相关理论假设有:青少年危险行为模型,组合模型,生物心理社会模型,生态理论等。其青少年问题行为影响因素现状包括多因素影响研究和单因素影响研究。对此,我们应在国外研究设计的基础上,结合国内青少年问题行为影响因素的实际,作出应有的研究展望。     

论非语言行为的语义特征

非语言交际是不用词语的交际 ,是在特定的情景或语境中使用非语言行为交流和理解信息的过程。非语言行为形式众多 ,内容丰富 ,地域性强 ,民族文化背景制约着非语言行为的内涵。非语言行为既有先天本能性 ,又有后天习得性 ;既有自觉性 ,又有不自觉性 ;既有确切含义的 ,也有示意模糊的 ;既有语境敏感性、多义性 ,又有同义性和反义性。     

模仿行为与跨国公司在华研发机构的区位选择

本文主要研究了跨国公司在华研发机构的空间分布,指出北京和上海这两个城市存在外国研发机构过度集聚的现象。我们发现,传统的理性选择模型无法解释这一过度集中的现象。因此,本文基于区位选择的模仿行为模型,讨论了目前国内外资研发机构过度集中的问题。并进一步从树立城市形象、改善投资环境等方面分析了对国内其他二级城市①的启示。

Humanism and Environmental Education

The author examined the impact of environmental education lessons in a study that compared activities conducted in the schoolyard with traditional classroom activities involving elementary school boys and girls. Participants were 109 4th- and 5th-grade students. Researchers conducted a 2 (group: traditional/treatment) X 2 (gender) multivariate analysis of variance with gain scores for environmental (a) knowledge, (b) attitudes, (c) behaviors, and (d) comfort levels as dependent variables. Boys demonstrated statistically significantly greater gain scores in the outdoor treatment group than in the traditional classroom curriculum for all 4 outcome variables. Boys also scored statistically significantly greater in the treatment group on attitudes and behaviors than did girls in that treatment group. The author discusses the unique learning styles of girls and boys and the findings that indicate the potential for schoolyard lessons to enhance instruction, meeting the needs of boys and girls.     

The relationship between university students’ environmental identity,decision-making process,and behavior

Environmental education scholars have argued for the need to focus on identity as a more predictive factor than attitude of individuals’ environmental behavior. We examine individuals’ decision-making as a mediating process between identity and behavior. University undergraduates (N = 299) were surveyed, with a select sub-sample interviewed. As expected, environmental identity was correlated with pro-environment behavior (recycling). However, students with lower pro-environmental identity also recycled regularly. Similarly, analysis of decision-making revealed most students, regardless of their environmental identity, do not think much when recycling. Environmental structures such as presence of recycling bins surfaced as a powerful influence on pro-environment behavior.     

Interactive Television (ITV) Instructor Behaviors: Implications of Frequency and Importance

Two hundred students majoring in education responded to the Validation of Effective Behaviors of Distance Instructors Inventory (McKenzie, Kirby, & Mims, 1997). The 41 items measured two dimensions: frequency and importance of effective behaviors in delivering distance instruction. A two-way within-subjects ANOVA was conducted. Of the 41 items, 14 were rated higher in importance than in frequency. The 14 items were then analyzed using Principal Component Analysis with Varimax rotation, which yielded two factors: Effective Learning Methods and Student Guidance. This study suggests that the behaviors of Interactive Television (ITV) instructors may be lacking in these two important factors.
