The attitudes and opinions of high school sports participants: an exploratory empirical examination

Sport scholars and public commentators have long held both positive and critical opinions about the influence of athletic involvement on participants and their perceptions of the social world. Yet for all of the strong claims and deeply held assumptions, relatively little empirical data or social scientific analysis have been available. This study begins to address this deficiency using new data from a nationally representative survey of American high school students. We compare sports participants and their peers in terms of concern for social problems, interracial contact and attitudes, views of gender roles and sex-based discrimination and political orientation. We find participants and non-participants differ very little in their social concern and views of gender roles and sex-based discrimination, while significant differences were found in levels of interracial contact, views on race relations and political orientation. In view of these findings, we make some general conclusions about the social influence of sport in the lives of American youth and how this topic may be further explored in subsequent work.     

An Analysis on the Reasons for the Cultivation of Nonverbal Communicative Competency Being Neglected in FLT

Cross-cultural nonverbal communicative competency constitutes a very important part of foreign language proficiency. However, for many reasons, the cultivation of cross-cultural nonverbal communicative competency has for a long time been neglected in the process of Foreign Language Teaching (FLT). This paper is devoted to analyzing the reasons for the cultivation of nonverbal communicative competency being a blind area in FLT.     

非言语型学习障碍儿童的视觉空间认知特点研究

本研究采用本顿视觉保持测验(VRT)对23名非言语型学习障碍儿童(NLD)、23名言语型学习障碍儿童(VLD)和46名普通儿童的视觉记忆、视觉空间结构、视觉运动进行了对比研究,旨在探讨非言语型学习障碍儿童(NLD)视觉空间认知的特点.结果表明:无论是临摹图形还是延迟回忆图形,NLD儿童的正确得分均落后于VLD儿童和普通儿童,出现的错误主要是变形、位置错误和大小错误.提示NLD儿童表象存储能力较差,难以把握事物的整体特征和局部特征,控制能力差,存在精细运动协调能力的缺陷.     

试论中美课堂非言语交际及其文化差异

非言语交际是跨文化交际的重要组成部分。本文选取中美课堂师生交流这一特定的交流领域,探讨中美师生间的非言语交际行为的辅助作用及其文化差异,提出师生的"文化依附"矛盾这一概念,旨在增强师生双方的跨文化意识,提高其跨文化交际能力。     

跨文化交际中的空间语

空间语作为一种非语言交际手段在跨文化交际中起着重要的作用。空间语所传递的信息主要通过以下三种方式表达——领域观、体距观以及空间取向。不同文化背景下,人们对空间语的解读也会有所差异。因此在跨文化交际中,为确保交际的成功,对于空间语的探讨和研究是有必要的。     

跨文化交际下的非语言交际

人类可以通过很多种方式进行交际,其中最重要的一种方法当然是语言。并且当语言以一种文字状态存在时,语言可以从它所存在的语篇环境中完全脱离出来。语言可以被视为是一种独立的、自制的过程。对非语言交际的研究和对语言的研究应该是等同的。通过对非语言交际的学习研究可以更深地理解语言交际,相反也成立。总之,所有的非语言交际都要在一个特定的语篇环境中来获得解释说明,如果忽略了这一点将会给整个情况造成误导。     

The Effect of Structural Parameters on The Compression Resilience of Uncut Woven Pile Fabrics

If an uncut woven pile fabric is to be subjected to compressive load in use its compression resilience performance becomes very crucial.In order to optimize the extent of recovery in fabric thickness when the applied force is removed,thirteen uncut woven pile fabric samples were woven and tested on KES-G5 Hand Type Compression Tester (small compress Hammer).The results show that the above parameters influence compression resilience property of the uncut woven pile fabrics,and the structural factors have a more pronounced effect as compared to effect of fibre and yarn type.     

On the Aanalysis of Non-verbal Language Kinesics in Intercultural Communication

This paper is designed to show the importance of kinesics for successful cross-culture communication and it is organized into five parts including the study on posture,movement,facial expression,eye contact and gesture.In the end,draw a conclusion that kinesics is of fundamental importance to one’s intercultural communication competence.It bridges gaps among people from different social and cultural backgrounds.One should develop kinesics and employ kinesics means to achieve successful communications.
