The impact of peer mentoring on pupils’ emotional literacy competencies

Research suggests that peer mentoring can positively impact on emotional literacy competencies. This study explored the effects of peer mentoring on the emotional literacy competencies of Year 7 peer mentees using a quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test control group design. Results supported the hypothesis that peer mentoring has a positive impact on the emotional literacy competencies of mentees with low to average levels of emotional literacy at pre-intervention. Results also showed a significant negative correlation between attendance at sessions and perceived Conduct Problems. Unexpectedly, results indicated adverse effects of reading mentoring on the emotional literacy competencies of control participants.     

Peer assessment of class participation: applying peer nomination to overcome rating inflation

Having students actively engaged with each other in discussions has become an increasingly important and common aspect of the classroom environment. This increased emphasis has also meant that instructors need to find ways to effectively and efficiently evaluate class participation. In this paper, we describe the most common method used for these assessments and highlight some of its inherent challenges. We then propose an alternative method based on peer nominations. Two case studies illustrate the advantages of this method; we find that it is both easy for students to complete and provide instructors with valuable diagnostic information with which to provide feedback and assign grades.     

Peer assessment accounting for student agreement

Peer assessment has been gaining significant ground as a means of fostering an environment of accountability and responsibility for group projects in higher education. A popular peer assessment method assigns individual grades via a linear relationship to peer assessment scores. Using this method, a group member who receives his or her group’s average peer assessment score is assigned the instructor‐given group grade; the group member who receives a total peer assessment score of zero is assigned an individual grade of zero. Unfortunately, applying this method often requires time‐consuming exploratory data analysis because of the potential for the method to yield a high spread of grades, including grades over 100%. The present study proposes a modification, which accounts for the degree of student agreement. When the modified procedure results in a change from the group grade, the direction of change is always the same, but with smaller magnitude, requiring less subsequent data analysis and instructor time demands. Easy‐to‐modify SAS code for applying the method is presented in the Appendix.     

南阳市留守儿童问题行为研究

为了解留守儿童问题行为的现状,以某地区291名中小学留守儿童为对象,采用留守儿童问题行为和同伴依恋问卷进行测试。结果显示,留守儿童在攻击行为、冒险行为、同伴依恋上存在显著的性别和年级差异,留守儿童问题行为与同伴依恋有显著相关。     

高校LIS教师群体中的“小同行”研究（2001-2010年）

一个学科内“小同行”数量和质量是衡量学科发展水平的重要指标。论文对我国高校LIS学科高级专家群体CSSCI来源期刊论文的统计分析,初步区分出61位高产专家中的14个“小同行”群体。并对我国LIS学科“小同行”群体发育水平较低的原因进行剖析。

以数据包络及同业影响分析为技术方法,选取适当的变量和数据,测定样本图书馆效率值并为存在效率缺失现象的图书馆选择合适的学习目标.文章针对在图书馆同行中科学选定学习目标这一课题进行探索性研究.     

学术刊物审稿公平感与投稿意愿关系实证研究

妥善处理退稿是关系到学术期刊提升竞争力、创建良好学术品牌的关键环节。本文以国内某研究型大学的286名有过拒稿经历的年轻学者为对象,采用问卷法,探究在拒稿情况下投稿者的审稿公平对于投稿意愿的影响。研究结果发现:(1)在程序、信息、人际三种审稿公平类型中,信息公平对于投稿意愿有显著的积极影响,并为整体公平感完全中介;(2)版面费对于信息公平与投稿意愿的关系存在正向调节作用,而期刊等级的调节效应不显著;(3)整体公平感是区别于具体公平(程序、人际和信息)的构念,对于投稿意愿有额外的解释效力。     

加强学科建设 完善管理机制——“NSFC机械工程学科科学基金管理研讨会”综述

本文综述了2010年11月在武汉召开的NSFC机械工程学科科学基金管理研讨会发言要点。会议主要参加者为曾经在国家自然科学基金委员会工程科学二处兼聘的专家、学者,对科学基金管理有较深层次的认识,主要建议包括同行评议制度的思考、项目管理体制的完善和资助格局的优化等三方面内容。     

我国学术期刊评价体系的完善与体育学术期刊的应对策略

同行评议、文献计量学评价及期刊评奖是目前我国学术期刊评价的3种评价形式,已建立了比较完备的体系,但从评价本身的准确性、全面性来看,学术期刊评价体系仍存在着一些局限与不足之处。营造合理的评价机制和和谐的学术氛围是评价深入并持续开展的前提,正确看待期刊评价,建立学科的引文数据库,在网络环境下实现从形式评价到内容评价的转变,以逐步完善评价体系。为此,体育学术期刊应发挥评价主体的作用,加强对学术期刊评价中相关指标的分析,调整编辑出版工作重心,办好刊物。
