Between ethos and practice: are Ireland’s new multi-denominational primary schools equal and inclusive?

This article explores the ethos of multi-denominational primary schools in the context of increasing cultural and religious diversity in the Republic of Ireland. In particular, it investigates how the official ethos is played out in day-to-day school interactions. The mixed-methods study draws on data collected from 11 community national schools focussing on the perspectives of principals, teachers and pupils. The data indicates while schools’ formal ethos sets out guiding principles and standards, a closer look reveals the specific identity of each individual school within the broader formal framework. The article presents a new perspective on school ethos research by exploring the extent to which it guides the promotion of diversity and tolerance in a multi-faith context. While the study is carried out in Ireland, it is also of interest to other jurisdictions where schools are faced with increasing religious diversity among their student population.     

在中小学校本培训中开展教育科研的探索

校本培训是在教育专家指导下,以教师任职学校为基本培训单位,以提高教师教育教学能力为主要目标,通过教育教学和教育科研活动来培训全校教师的一种继续教育形式。校本培训的目标是:具有现代教育观念、积极进行研究探索、确立终身学习观念、主体意识强。开展校本培训的策略:学校校长是校本培训的设计者和管理者;校本培训要得到校外教育专家的指导;校本培训要与课题研究紧密结合;建立教师校本培训的相关组织和制度,使中小学教师的校本培训逐步走上制度化的轨道。     

Humanities in the primary school – philosophical considerations

ABSTRACT

Drawing on a range of philosophical traditions, this article argues that the humanities are essential aspects of the development of the whole child. The humanities help children to understand themselves and other people in relation to place, time, belief, identity and culture and to become empathetic, thoughtful and critical citizens. Learning the content, language, concepts, skills and ways of working associated with separate disciplines is important, as is exploration of key ideas related to human experience and culture, including controversial ones. Defining the humanities in the primary years by the types of knowledge, qualities and values involved may be more appropriate than by subject. These can be learned, and reinforced, in all subject areas, with some offering particularly fertile opportunities, and through cross-curricular approaches. An emphasis on factual knowledge is too limiting, with active, first-hand experience helping to engage and include children. To teach and demonstrate appropriate ways of working and thinking, teachers require pedagogical content knowledge and enthusiasm as well as subject knowledge.

考察97名中小学领导的自我监控性与组织承诺、工作满意度之间的相关，研究发现：中小学领导在自我监控性和组织承诺及其感情承诺、规范承诺方面均呈显性相关；中小学领导的自我监控性可以作为组织承诺及其规范承诺、继续承诺的预测指标；中小学领导的自我监控性与工作满意度之间无显性相关。     

小学教育本科模式要凸显发展能力的培养观

小学教育本科崭新模式的构建，对小学教育事业高层次师资的培养带来契机。在牢固把握师范性与学术性结合点上，尤为突出的是必须在传授知识与发展创新能力两者关系上，冲破传统教育观念之壁垒，在现代教学论的昭示下，真正使“传授知识，应着重发展能力”得到凸得。如此，方能显示此种培训模式之前卫优势。     

切实转变观念,加强中小学生法制教育

中小学生法制教育是学校教育的重要内容之一。目前,我国中小学法制教育中还存在不少误区。切实转变观念,提高学校对法制教育的重视程度,是加强对中小学生进行法制教育的关键。     

The use of virtual reality simulation to improve technical skill in the undergraduate medical imaging student

In recent years, simulation has increasingly underpinned the acquisition of pre-clinical skills by undergraduate medical imaging (diagnostic radiography) students. This project aimed to evaluate the impact of an innovative virtual reality (VR) learning environment on the development of technical proficiency by students. The study assessed the technical skills of first year medical imaging students. The learning experience by each student was either via traditional laboratory-based simulation or VR simulation, for two specified anatomical protocols. Following the learning experience, the students performed role-plays and were assessed on their technical proficiency. The type of learning environment, laboratory-based or VR simulation, was recorded for each radiographic procedure, as well as demographic data. Data demonstrated an improved total role-play skill score for those students trained using VR software simulation compared with the total role-play skills score traditional laboratory simulation. Demographic multivariable analysis demonstrated no statistically significant association of age, gender, gaming skills/activity with the outcome. The novel medical imaging VR simulation learning tool facilitated technical skill acquisition, equal to, or slightly better than traditional laboratory training. Ongoing data collection will evaluate the impact this VR software has on the undergraduate medical imaging student.

中小学实施心理健康教育的问题及思路

我国中小学心理健康教育存在开展面不广、师资缺乏、评价机制不健全等问题.鉴于开展心理健康教育的重要性,要将心理健康教育渗透到学校教育的全过程,加强心理健康教育师资队伍建设,学习他人的成功经验和做法,改善教育方法和评价手段,强调行为训练,注意集体心理健康教育和个别指导.     

小学教师科学素养调查与评价

为了解湖州市小学教师科学素养现状,采用问卷调查法对湖州市240名小学教师进行调查分析.结果表明：湖州市小学教师的基本科学素养整体情况不令人满意.城市与农村小学教师的科学素养在整体上存在一定的差异性;学历为大专及以上教师的得分高于其他教师;随着教师年龄的增大,科学素养的得分呈现降低趋势.从任教学科情况来看,数学、语文、科学课教师的得分高于音、体、美等技能课教师.     

中小学语文计算机辅助教学发展现状与启示

中小学语文计算机辅助教学与中小学计算机辅助教学的发展相伴而生,理论发展和软件研究日趋成熟。从教学媒体的开发及其运用,逐渐转向学习资源的设计开发及利用学习资源进行语文学习的研究上,提出了信息技术的"整合"的思想;软件建设也从个别课件的研制向应用开发共享型资源库过渡。教育智慧在语文计算机辅助教学中起着不可替代的作用,区域教育资源建设是推进计算机辅助教学的低成本高收益的可行性方略。
