Sharing financial information and developing an open culture encourages and enables staff to use financial and managerial information to improve the operations and functions of the library. The result is informed and engaged staff members who are fully vested in and take responsibility for the success of the library.

Predicting subjective well-being among mHealth users: a readiness – value model

mHealth applications (MHA) have recently attracted great attention from various stakeholders as they are indeed important means to enhance users’ subjective well-being. While prior research has mainly focused on intention or adoption phase, little work has empirically examined the post-adoption effects of MHA with scarce attention given to the well-being outcome. Actual users are likely to conceive the values of MHA based mainly on their direct experience with it. In this paper, the dimensions of users’ technology readiness are regarded as major impetuses for perceived utilitarian and hedonic values, which in turn influence subjective well-being among MHA users. The proposed readiness-value model is analyzed using survey data collected from 731 users of MHA. The findings show that the model significantly predicts users’ subjective well-being considering that utilitarian value is more important for male users, whereas hedonic value has a more salient effect for female users. It also reveals that enablers of technology readiness (i.e., innovativeness and optimism) exert a stronger influence than that of inhibitors (i.e., discomfort and insecurity) on the perceived values of MHA. These results have essential implications for theory and practice.

以易地参赛环境作为一个整体研究对象,对易地参赛环境的定义、分类及其影响运动员赛前竞技状态的机制及其适应性调节进行了理论分析.研究认为,易地参赛环境包括自然环境和社会环境.这两方面的环境各有自己特定的内容,相互间又密切相联、互相渗透.易地参赛环境对运动员竞技状态的影响与易地参赛环境引起运动员应激反应有关,其所引起应激反应的程度受易地参赛环境对运动员的刺激量以及运动员对易地参赛环境认知合理性的影响.对易地参赛环境调适的关键是降低易地参赛环境对运动员的刺激量及提高运动员对易地参赛环境认知的合理性.实现调适关键的途径包括两方面:自然适应和人为调节.     

信息时代变化着的工作

新技术的发展正深刻地改变着工作的性质 ,引导着就业和工作的转型 ;与此同时 ,也对教育提出了新的要求 ,潜在地导致教育的转型。在信息时代 ,知识和信息成为将个体重新整合入高生产率工作场所的基础。新的信息经济呼唤新型工人 ,因而正规学校教育和在职培训的重要性日益增加。学校教育与劳动过程都需要增强弹性、合作和参与性 ,并且二者之间应加强相互联系。     

Learning to Cook: Production Learning Environment in Kitchens

Learning in workplaces is neither ad hoc nor informal. Such labels are a misnomer and do not do justice to the highly-structured nature and complexity of many workplaces where learning takes place. This article discusses the organisational and structural framework developed from a three-year doctoral study into how apprentice chefs construct their knowledge and skill in moving from a novice to a more experienced chef. The processes of knowledge and skill construction were as much aided by the indirect guidance of the production environments of the kitchens as by the direct guidance of the chefs. It is through the space, tempo, routines, hierarchy and workflow of a kitchen, comprising the organisational and structural framework, that many of the opportunities to construct knowledge and skill reside for the apprentices.     

Situating graphs as workplace knowledge

We investigate the use and knowledge of graphs in the context of a large industrial factory. We are particularly interested in the question of “transparency”, a question that has been extensively considered in the general literature on tool use and, more recently, by Michael Roth and his colleagues in the context of scientific work. Roth uses the notion of transparency to characterise instances of graph use by highly educated scientists in cases where the context was familiar: the scientists were able to read the situation “through” the graph. This paper explores the limits of the validity of the transparency metaphor. We present two vignettes of actual graph use by a factory worker, and contrast his actions and knowledge with that of a highly qualified process engineer working on the same production line. We note that in neither case the graphs were transparent. We argue that a fuller account that describes a spectrum of transparency is needed, and we seek to achieve this by adopting some elements of a semiotic approach that enhance a strictly activity-theoretical view.
