Mental-health services can contribute substantially to many areas of school life, but the nature and effectiveness of these contributions depend to a large degree on the willingness of the personnel involved to work as a team and to develop new perspectives and practices. This article presents a five level model of mental-health intervention in the school setting and posits a division of responsibility for that intervention among the school psychologist, the school guidance counselor and the teacher. Implications for a school-counselor preparation program are discussed.  相似文献

Although the concepts of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention have been prevalent in the literature of the helping professions, the potential for tertiary intervention within the educational system is largely unrealized. The purpose of the article is to clarify this concept, to delineate some of the areas in which tertiary prevention can be implemented by school counselors, and to suggest how it may be incorporated in school counselor education.  相似文献

We recently published an article on arm coordination and performance level in 400-m front-crawl swimming in Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport (Schnitzler, Seifert, &; Chollet, 2011). The index of coordination (IdC) was used to quantify interarm coordination. Our results showed that expert swimmers exhibited lower IdC than recreational swimmers over a 400-m trial. In addition to criticizing various methodological points, Havriluk (2012) challenged our conclusion that catch-up could be an efficient model of coordination and instead suggested that it might lead to injuries. An important point in this debate, however, is that our definition of catch-up coordination may differ from the one proposed by Havriluk (2012), which would explain why we consider catch-up coordination to be the dominant mode of coordination used by expert swimmers during training sessions.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to examine the content of education on the primary and secondary levels, in some francophone countries of the Sub‐Sahara. The author has made a comparative study on education in Ivory Coast, Dahomey, and East‐Cameroon. Since fourteen francophone African states (most of them members of O.C.A.M.‐‐Organisation Commune Africaine Malgache), guided by the ex‐metropole, follow similar systems of education, a number of generalizations may be applied to these countries.  相似文献
