秦桧该不该站起来?奥运“举国体制”该不该取消?这不是不搭界的问题。前不久听到一些建言:取消全运会,取消推行“奥运争光”战略的举国体制,淡化为国争光,强化全民健身。其实,全民健身与奥运争光作为国家推行的两套战略,是互为促进的,这一点有目共睹,似乎没有道理将其对立。十运会的负面东西(假赛、兴奋剂等)占十运会比赛总场次尚不足千分之一,怎么就要取消全运会呢?近年来,世界体坛平均每年兴奋剂检测阳性率约为1.6%,而中国体坛的这个数字仅为0.4%,许多国际体育组织人士多次向中国厉行“三严”方针反兴奋剂的显著成效表示敬意,为什么一些人…     

Literacy Instruction in Multiple‐Language First‐Grade Classrooms: Linking Student Outcomes to Observed Instructional Practice

This study examined literacy instruction in 14 first‐grade classrooms of English learners (ELs) in three schools in a large urban school district in southern California over a two‐year period. Pre‐ and posttest measures of oral‐reading fluency for 186 first graders, representing 11 native languages, were the outcome data. Reading‐fluency data were examined in reference to ratings of literacy practices using the English Learners Classroom Observation Instrument (ELCOI). Results indicated a moderately strong correlation (r= 0.65) between ELCOI rating and gain in oral‐reading fluency at the end of first grade. We report patterns of ELs who read below the oral‐reading fluency benchmark thresholds and patterns of students who were ultimately labeled with learning disabilities. Instructional practices of teachers rated “high” and “low” are discussed. Educational implications and recommendations for future research are discussed.     

由中国专利探讨TFT-LCD专利表现及主要公司技术布局

本研究参考日本的FI／F-Term专利分类方式，将TFT-LCD制程相关技术分成8项技术主题，并从整体产业、国家（地区）、主要公司（专利案件总数排名前15名的专利权人）以及技术主题等观点出发，观察中国TFT-LCD制程相关技术的专利表现，并根据此8项技术主题探讨15家主要公司的技术布局。     

基于粗糙集加权的文本分类方法研究

文本自动分类是当前智能信息处理中一类重要的研究课题。本文分析了基于统计理论的文本分类的基本特点,提出采用可变精度粗糙集模型中的分类质量构造新的特征词权重计算公式。这种新的加权方法,相对于广泛使用的逆文本频率加权方法,大大改进了文本样本在整个空间中的分布,使得类内距离减少,类间距离增大,在理论上将提高样本的可分性。最后利用支持向量机和K近邻两种分类器,验证了这种新的加权方法对分类效果确实有所提高。     

Comparison of individual factors in school psychology graduate students: Why do students pursue a degree in school psychology?

The purpose of this study was to investigate what factors influenced students to enter the field of school psychology. Although numerous studies have documented the thoughts and perspectives of practitioners regarding why they have chosen to become school psychologists, attempts to recruit and retain an adequate number of school psychology practitioners and researchers have shown limited success. A national sample of 307 school psychology graduate students responded to a survey designed to measure issues related to the current state of professional practice, the influence of parental education, and professional organization recruitment. Results indicated that working with children and personal experiences within the school system were highly related to participant's decisions to become school psychologists. In addition, doctoral level and nondoctoral level students present similar reasons for entering the field. This research is discussed in terms of its implications for future research and the current shortage of school psychology practitioners and faculty. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Investigating the role of the HLTA in supporting learning in English schools

The development of support staff was a key aspect of the Labour government’s reform of the school workforce in England. As part of this strategy approximately 25,000 Teaching Assistants (TAs) gained Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) status and were deployed in schools in a variety of roles, often operating in a quasi-teaching role. The research re-visits individuals who had acquired HLTA status between 2006 and 2009 and had participated in a questionnaire survey regarding their role at that time. A duplicate questionnaire was distributed in 2013 to 305 of these HLTAs and was followed up in 2014 by focus groups with self-selecting individuals from the original sample. To date there has been little research relating to the development of the HLTA role and the implications this has for both teachers and pupils, particularly in terms of provision for the most vulnerable learners.     

Electronic reserves: copyright and permissions

Electronic reserves present a new service option for libraries to provide needed materials during hours that the library is not open and to user groups located some distance from library collections. Possible changes to current copyright law and publishers permissions policies have delayed the development of electronic reserves in many libraries. This paper reviews the current state of electronic reserves materials in the publishing and library communities and presents the results of a survey of publishers to determine permissions policies for electronic materials. Issues of concern to both libraries and publishers are discussed.
