The article tests a couple of hypotheses relating to markets where demand is not taken as a given, but subject to sophisticated
and encompassing price-building strategies. The study uses a data set that provides quoted dealer prices for medium-sized
works of 100 leading visual artists from 1970 to 2004. These data are compared with auction price results for works by the
same artists. The study reports significant discrepancies with respect to the relationship between the age of artists and
prices paid for their works in the two markets, and with respect to general price developments in the two markets as measured
by indices.

The professional demands on school leaders have changed drastically and have become highly complex in the last few years.
The professionalization of school leaders is high on the agenda. Human resource management includes different aspects of professionalization.
One major domain is the preparation, induction and continuous professional development of individual leaders and leadership
teams. Another is personnel marketing and selection, which includes the question of attracting capable future leaders and
of appointing the right candidates. However in Europe there is a need for standardised tools which provide systematic feedback
to professionals interested in assessing their strengths and individual development needs. Suitable instruments are still
scarce. The Competence Profile School Management CPSM (German: KompetenzProfil SchulManagement; KPSM) is the first online-based
self-assessment in the German language which has been designed to fit the school context and is based on psychometric principles.
It offers participants the possibility to reflect their strengths and weaknesses in different requirement areas of school
leadership; and to compare their individual results with peers from the school context, thus gaining valuable information
on their individual profiles when planning their professional development and careers. After sketching the theoretical and
empirical background, this article presents information about the aims and purpose of CPSM, the tool’s development, its test
scales and test formats, the results of the pilot study and those of the evaluation study. Then, the further development of
the tool in terms of modifications and add-ons are outlined, before, finally, the tool’s contribution to practice and research

This article presents a set of spatial tools for classroom learning about spatial justice. As part of a larger team, we designed a curriculum that engaged 10 learners with 3 spatial tools: (a) an oversized floor map, (b) interactive geographic information systems (GIS) maps, and (c) participatory mapping. We analyze how these tools supported learning using notions of politicization. The floor map fed conceptual understandings of the map as a representational text and served as the terrain for an embodied activity to support proportional reasoning about inequitable distributions of resources. The data-rich GIS maps and their zoomability allowed for coordinating across multiple variables to connect patterns in inequities to other social processes. The participatory mapping enabled learners to make discoveries about, connect, and share beyond the individual classroom counterstories from people in the lived streets of their neighborhood. In aggregate, this set of spatial tools produced a complex, hybrid view of the city’s space, which contributed to learners’ political formation. 相似文献

Two education reports commissioned by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Learning to be, otherwise known as the Faure report (1972) and Learning: The treasure within, otherwise known as the Delors report (1996), have been associated with the establishment of lifelong learning as a global educational paradigm. In this article, which draws on archival research and interviews, I will explore how these two reports have contributed to debates on the purpose of education and learning. In the first half, I will shed light on their origins, the context in which they came about, how they have been received by the education community and by UNESCO member states and how they have been discussed in the scholarly literature. In the second half, I will discuss the key themes of the reports, in particular lifelong learning as the global educational ‘master concept’. In the last section, I will reflect on how the Faure report and the Delors report are still relevant for our debates about learning today. I will argue that the concept of lifelong learning, as put forward by these reports, was a political utopia which is at odds with today's utilitarian view of education. 相似文献

The numbers of disciplinary referrals to the principal's office for 202 boys and 202 girls from a middle-class, suburban junior high school were obtained from student records and fitted to a highly skewed negative binomial distribution. The fitted and observed distributions do not significantly differ by Chi-square test (p <.05) nor in a cross-validation sample of 219 boys and 212 girls in another school. Exemplifying the high positive skew of the distribution, 54% of the boys in one school had no referrals; 20%, one; 9%, two; and one boy, 15. 相似文献
