The Leadership for Organisational Learning and Student Outcomes (LOLSO) Research Project addresses the need to extend present understandings of school reform initiatives that aim to change school practices with the intention of supporting enhanced student learning. In this article results from LOLSO's teacher surveys ('teacher voice') and student surveys ('pupil voice') are organised around six of the project's major research questions: how is the concept of organisational learning (OL) defined in Australian secondary schools (teacher voice)? What leadership practices promote OL in schools (teacher voice)? What are some outcomes of schooling other than academic achievement (pupil voice)? What are the relationships between the non-academic and academic outcomes of schooling? Do school leadership and/or organisational learning contribute to student outcomes? What other factors contribute to student outcomes? The answers to these questions lead to four clear implications relating to distributive leadership, development, context, and a broader understanding of student outcomes. The answers also raise concerns about the current emphasis on transactional leadership, that is school leadership that overemphasises the managerial or strategic. 相似文献

This article follows a paper ‘Bridging the Gap’ presented to the International Conference on Research and Higher Education in Building Construction which was held in Paris in February 1994. The paper looked at how the School of Construction, Housing and Surveying at the University of Westminster has worked with the building construction industry in the context of two of the conference themes: these were how to train through research and how to involve industry in higher education and research. This article expands on the previous examination of these themes and suggests how the approach could contribute to a fresh approach to training and education. It reviews the progress so far on this initiative and looks to the future to provide even more fruitful models for universities and industry to work together on higher education and research. 相似文献

Schools and teachers are increasingly confronted by, and engaging, the challenge of techno-popular culture and postmodernity more generally. This paper addresses one manifestation of the postmodern condition in contemporary education and schooling: the emergence of a distinctively new visual and performative sensibility in educational practice, and a new articulation with media practice and popular culture. This is addressed here specifically through the phenomenon of the Rock Eisteddfod Challenge (REC), a unique and somewhat controversial youth- and school-cultural event incorporating popular music and creative-performing arts, and involving large numbers of schools and students. The particular focus here is the televisual form of the REC. The key concept introduced is the notion of 'tele-pedagogy', drawn from recent debates in media education, cultural studies and poststructuralist theory and philosophy. 相似文献

A stepwise multiple regression procedure was employed to develop a series of equations composed of subsets of predictor variables which indicated the highest prediction accuracy for each of six counselor job performance criteria developed on a sample of 216 employed rehabilitation counselors and a subsequent randomly selected developmental sample of 166. Using cross-validation procedures, assessment was made of the predictive effectiveness of the regression equations when applied to a randomly selected independent sample derived from the same experience pool. Highest prediction accuracy in both developmental groups was demonstrated for the criterion self-initiative in increasing professional knowledge and skill. Significant predictors associated with this criterion for the total sample included: educational level, knowledge of professional subject matter in rehabilitation counseling, Personal Adjustment and Social Service scales of the Adjective Check List, and the Ability Utilization Scale of the Minnesota Importance Questionnaire. Significant multiple correlation coefficients obtained for the other five criteria ranged from .38 to .28. Results of cross-validation showed that two criteria exhibited little shrinkage, with a substantial increase in prediction accuracy observed for a third criterion, self-initiative in increasing professional knowledge and skill. 相似文献
