干旱区绿洲土地覆被变化趋势研究——吐鲁番地区为例

通过1999～2008年间统计数据,对吐鲁番地区及直辖区土地利用变化及区域差异进行分析。研究该地区影响土地利用变化的驱动因子。近10年来综合土地利用数据分析显示了:原有的土地利用模式向园地方向发展,与耕地呈负相关;粮食产量减少了93.74%与耕地、园地、变动有关;整个地区年均GDP以7.24%速度增长,园地、建设用地成正相关;建设用地2.84%速度增加与地方生产值呈正相关。但自然灾害的频繁,水资源的短缺和新增人口与当地工农业发展之间矛盾也逐步增多。     

Organisational culture in higher education: mapping the way to understanding cultural research

This article examines the complexity and multiplicity of perspectives in studying organisational culture in higher education settings. This multiplicity of conceptualisations of cultures has purportedly been derived from the different points of view of many disciplines, which have made the study of culture and cultural research enigmatic for neophyte researchers in particular. In view of this, this article aims to put those varied points of view together to build a hybrid composed of cultural definitions, manifestations and university culture, using semiotics and functionalist perspectives, and elements of various methodologies used in conducting cultural research. The latter is grounded on the premise that the epistemology, theoretical perspectives and methodology used influence the strength of research designs that ultimately contribute to the production of legitimate knowledge. It is expected that this proposed hybrid mode of understanding and researching culture can become a model for studying culture and organisational culture in higher education sectors for professionals in general and for those undertaking PhD studies (neophyte researchers) in particular.     

On selection and combining of relevance indicators

Identifying and representing the content of a document was, and still is, one of the main concerns of information retrieval systems. Representation of content is not dependent of the search strategy and other elements of information retrieval systems (IRS) but rather has some relationship with them.In the conventional IRS, each document in the file is characterized by one or more index terms which supposedly describe its content. Those terms are assigned from the natural language or from a pre-prepared list (Thesaurus). Over the years, other means of representing content were suggested. Also, attempts were made to combine several of them assuming independence.This paper discusses the attributes of the items in the data-base and their qualities. It seems that there is no single one which has all the desired qualities.If the attributes are not totally independent neither highly correlated then combining them in a certain way may increase effectiveness. The justification for this comes from the users' information seeking behavior—users are using index terms, author's names, citations, and other attributes in their searches.A model to accomodate the above hypothesis is formulated and the small experiment performed indicates that the hypothesis may be true, and this way of combining might improve effectiveness.     

新疆库车县耕地资源利用结构优化对策

库车县具有发展农业的有利条件 ,而影响农业发展的主要因素是人口、耕地、水资源 ,它们之间关系的协调性 ,直接影响到库车县的整个农业和社会经济发展乃至绿洲生态环境的可持续发展。为了充分利用本县的耕地资源和发挥本县的资源优势 ,该文论述了库车县人口、耕地、水资源的多年动态变化关系 ,分析库车县耕地利用中存在的人均耕地少 ,地均水资源量不足 ,水土资源利用失衡 ,土壤肥力较低 ,土壤次生盐渍化严重等问题 ;以棉花、小麦、玉米等作物的产量为变量 ,深入分析了本县耕地资源利用结构优化及其潜力 ,并提出调整种植业结构、合理配置水土资源、防治地膜污染、改良培肥土壤、改善人口状况等实现耕地资源利用结构优化和持续利用的对策。     

Codification vs personalisation: A study of the information evaluation practice between aerospace and construction industries

In the emerging digital economy, the management of information in aerospace and construction organisations is facing a particular challenge due to the ever-increasing volume of information and the extensive use of information and communication technologies (ICTs). This paper addresses the problems of information overload and the value of information in both industries by providing some cross-disciplinary insights. In particular it identifies major issues and challenges in the current information evaluation practice in these two industries. Interviews were conducted to get a spectrum of industrial perspectives (director/strategic, project management and ICT/document management) on these issues in particular to information storage and retrieval strategies and the contrasting approaches to knowledge and information management of personalisation and codification. Industry feedback was collected by a follow-up workshop to strengthen the findings of the research. An information-handling agenda is outlined for the development of a future Information Evaluation Methodology (IEM) which could facilitate the practice of the codification of high-value information in order to support through-life knowledge and information management (K&IM) practice.     

An associative search strategy for information retrieval

This paper extends Goffman's Indirect Method of Information Retrieval by suggesting a more flexible search strategy. The suggested strategy in its simplified version is more effective than the Boolean strategy used in existing information retrieval systems and can be implemented at comparable costs. Some of its features might further increase the effectiveness of information retrieval systems.
