The purpose of this case study report was to determine what parents want and the degree to which they value psychoeducational reports prepared by school psychologists. The sample (N = 44) consisted of parents whose children were seen as out-patients of the Learning Disorder Clinic within the Department of Pediatrics at the UCLA Center for the Health Sciences. All subjects completed a questionnaire designed to determine the parents' expectation and satisfaction concerning their child's psychological evaluation. Results showed positive impressions regarding evaluations, their usefulness, and their content.  相似文献

The present study examined the relationship between the psychological evaluation reports of test examiners and the referral questions of classroom teachers. It was hypothesized that there would be an interaction between examiners' reporting of test data and the information that was received from school personnel. Data were analyzed using a 2 X 2 chi square analysis. Results indicated a biasing effect when examiners were knowledgeable about the reasons for referral.  相似文献

The impact of a self-instructional program to reduce stress levels of parents of hearing-impaired children is examined. Fifty parents with hearing-impaired children were randomly assigned to one of two groups: Participating Parents, who received a Self-Instructional Parent Program (SIPP); and Non-participating Parents, who received no such program. Findings indicate that the participating parents did not experience significant decreases in their stress levels or in the perceived incidence of misbehavior in their children in comparison with non-participating parents. Participating parents, however, reported a decrease in their children's misbehavior; non-participating parents noted an increase. Additionally, the findings also associated increasing stress on the part of parents with parental perceptions of burgeoning misbehavior on the part of the child.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This self-study, based on research, conducted over five years, focuses on my leadership role employing an inclusion model of education in a school in Iceland serving students from ages 6 to 16. In this article, we examine how Edda’s practice helped support inclusion for the students, their families, and the teachers who engage with them. This multilayered self-study research project included feedback and insights from others in order to inform my understanding of my practice within the context of inclusion. Findings reveal Edda’s focus on the discourse of diagnosis as a dominant structural issue within her practice. The resulting themes on perceptions of inclusion, coordination of support, deployment of people, and collaboration across different entities have informed my understanding about my practice and my perspective on the meaning of a support system within inclusive education and improved student performance.  相似文献

This study examines the attitudes of young Muslim Iranians and young Jewish Iranians regarding intramarriage and intermarriage, and identifies reasons for differences between these two groups. It also examines differences between male and female Iranians in choosing a prospective spouse. The results indicate that Muslim Iranians attitudes regarding mate selection are more liberal (Americanized) than are those of Jewish Iranians. Regardless of religion, male Iranians attitudes regarding mate selection are more Americanized than are those of female Iranians. The findings indicate that cultural, religious, sex role attitudes, and dating patterns are factors in young Iranians attitudes regarding mate selection.  相似文献

This article aims to consider a few of the important limitations of the types of religious education programs that the Ethics and Religious Culture program integrates into its present form. These limitations are structured around the concept of culture, which reduces religion to certain aspects that, while theoretically relevant and necessary, create a concrete problem in educational practice. These limitations increase with the transversal approach that is used when comparing religions. These limitations can be observed in Buddhism and Native Spirituality, two traditions that present what is known as “Impressionist Illusion” and “Religious Fiction.”  相似文献

This article reviews the characteristics ofage-related hearing loss and discusses theconsequences of hearing loss for seniorprofessors at our universities and colleges. It presents some of the strategies, for use bythe hearing-impaired and thenon-hearing-impaired, to adapt successfully toage-related hearing impairments. Examples arecited for the classroom and for the generaluniversity environment.
