A cpm analysis of microbiology computerization project for hospital management information processing

This paper deals with the use of the critical path method (CPM) and CRIT, a computerized CPM program, as a tool for reporting and developing management information systems for hospital decision making. A CPM analysis was applied at the Microbiology Department of Deaconess Hospital to coordinate and synchronize the various tasks for efficient management. Its numerous benefits are cited. The CPM model can facilitate planning, decision making and managerial control by providing management information.     

Calling Integration into Question: A Discourse Analysis of English and Humash Classes at a Modern Orthodox Yeshiva High School

Drawing on discourse analysis and critical literacy, this study calls into question prevailing assumptions about integration by examining talk in English and Humash classrooms as windows into the two worlds of a Modern Orthodox high school. The study found that the two subjects presented very different models of teaching and learning. Humash was grounded in a Discourse of authority, whereas English was grounded in a Discourse of autonomy. In lieu of integration, this article recommends “counterpoise,” programming for meta-knowledge in which school members confront and openly discuss the distinctions between their Discourses.     

The Media Diet Imbalance Score: A Measure of Aggregate Media Diet

As media options continue to expand in both quantity and variety and move to new media platforms, consumers’ media diets are becoming increasingly varied and complex. This complexity calls for a more nuanced method of quantifying media consumption that goes beyond the binary like-minded or cross-cutting categories currently used in studies of selective exposure. We develop a measure that captures the full diversity of content in an individual’s media diet, the media diet imbalance score, by adapting Brader, Tucker, and Therriault’s (2014) measure of sociodemographic cross-pressures. Our method allows for research on important aspects of the current media environment that are impossible with existing measures, and it is less labor intensive than previous strategies for measuring selective exposure.
