Meeting Information Needs through Global Partnerships: A Roadmap to Becoming a Global Health Sciences Library

Abstract

Supporting global health priorities through the development of robust health science librarianship partnerships is of significant importance. Increased demand for synthesizing evidence-based information, collating quality resources, and increasing research productivity to improve human health requires integration of library and information science skills and expertise. The Health Sciences Library (HSL) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), exists to be an indispensable partner in health information and knowledge, teaching and learning, and research. As global efforts at UNC expanded, the HSL sought to ensure that our global engagement strategy and integration were aligned with campus priorities and partner needs. The HSL created a global research partnership plan: identify resources that improve efficiency, increase access to information, build in-country capacity and expertise—all while strengthening collaborations across multiple countries. Creating a meaningful and sustainable engagement strategy was central to envisioning our path forward and can be used as a framework for consideration by librarians in similar settings.     

The Influence of Hygroscopic Materials on the Fluctuation of Relative Humidity in Museums Located in Historical Buildings

ABSTRACT

The preservation of artefacts in museum collections is profoundly affected by fluctuations in temperature and, especially, relative humidity (RH). Since the late nineteenth century, many studies have been carried out on the best way to control hygrothermal conditions. In old buildings located in maritime temperate climate zones (such as Portugal) with strong thermal inertia, and which have low ventilation rate (relative to the volume and number of visitors), daily and seasonal hygroscopic inertia may help to assure the maintenance of RH stabilization conditions. The use of expensive active systems may be minimized through the passive behaviour of internal finishing building materials. This work presents the results of an experimental laboratory study conducted in a flow chamber to demonstrate the enormous potential of hygroscopic materials in stabilizing interior relative humidity. Based in these results and in-situ monitoring in a museum housed in a building, located in Porto, with a typical construction of the 1950s (granite masonry and reinforced concrete slabs), a numerical analysis was done to quantify the influence of hygroscopic materials in stabilizing the interior relative humidity.     

太极拳对老年人心肺机能的影响

通过系统观察、测试部分长年参加太极拳练习者和无训练者在完成定量负荷运动前后心肺功能指标变化,发现长期进行太板拳练习的老年人心脏泵血功能、心肌收缩机能、肺活量均显著优于普通人,表明长年从事太极拳运动对促进老年人心肺功能的改善具有积极作用,为老年人参加太极拳运动提供了可靠的实验依据.     

我国省级市体育局信息部门的组织构架

当前我国市级体育局的信息管理，还未独立地设置专门的部门，而把信息管理工作分散到原有的相关部门兼顾完成。这种现象与当前体育事业的发展不相适应。因此，建议在市级体育局的处级层面上，设置一个独立的信息管理部门，为体育局更好地利用信息和更及时地对信息作出反应提供更完善的服务。     

分层"完整教学法"在体育院系普修跨栏技术教学中的实验研究

教学方法的研究是教学改革的重要内容。以广州体院96级、97级本科生为研究对象，设计并运用了跨栏跑技术教学的“分层‘完整教学法’”。通过教学实验研究，结果表明：新教法教学总体效果优于传统的常规教法。

冷刺激和力竭运动对小鼠LPO及抗氧化能力的影响

探讨小鼠在冷刺激影响下作力竭性运动 ,肝脏、心脏、骨骼肌及大脑组织LPO水平及其抗氧化能力的影响。结果表明 ,冷刺激使力竭运动机体脂质过氧化水平升高 ,在心脏、骨骼肌及大脑组织中均有显著性差异 (P〈0 0 5 ) ,且各组织从低到高的排列顺序是 :大脑骨骼肌心脏肝脏 ;SOD活性基本不变 ,总抗氧化能力 (TAC)呈下降趋势 ,其中肝组织中呈显著性下降 (P〈0 0 5 ) ,其它组织无显著性差异 ,各组织的抗氧化能力从小到大的排列顺序是 :骨骼肌大脑心脏肝脏     

公安类考生体能测试考前心理状况的调整

运用问卷、文献资料和调查访问等研究方法，对浙江省近两年来公安类考生的考前心理状态进行了分析研究，结果表明，有针对性地从意识和行为上加强应考前心理状态的调整对发挥考生潜能，取得优异成绩有重要意义，针对考生的不利心理状态，提出了消除的方法。     

日本体育法学的发展及研究动向

20世纪60年代以来,日本体育法学的发展大致经历了3个阶段。第一阶段,从20世纪60年代初期到70年代末期,为起步阶段。以体育振兴法的研究为契机,学者们开始关注体育与法的研靠,打破了以往“法不介入体育”的传统观念,日本体育法学开始兴起。第二阶段,从20世纪80年代初期到90年代初期,为快速发展期。学者们不仅关注体育法学某一领域的研究,并且开始探究体育法学学科的理论体系。第三阶段,从20世纪90年中期到现在,为学科形成期。日本的体育法学已经具有明确的研究对象、研究方法和比较系统的知识体系,从而将体育法学提高到了“学”的水平。体育法学学科的性质、国民体育权利、体育事故与救济、职业体育与法、国际体育法5个方面是日本体育法学界普遍关注的主要问题。     

对我国体育院系创业教育的思考

“创业教育”是在我国高等教育界继“素质教育”、“创新教育”之后，出现的又一新的教育思想，我国有数所大学正在积极试点、探索，并取得了一定的成绩。随着体育院系学生就业形式的变化，随着我国加入WTO和2008年北京奥运会的申办成功，随着我国体育产业、服务业等迅猛发展，我国体育院系的创业教育具备必要性和可行性。提出我国体育院系创业教育的措施建议。
