'She just got me’: supporting care experienced young people negotiating relationships and identities at school

In this article we examine the complex relationship between care experience, mental health and exclusion from school and how young people (YP) negotiate these different experiences and identities. The study is a secondary analysis, informed by symbolic interactionist theory, of interviews conducted with 19 care experienced YP in Scotland. Not all of the YP were excluded and not all had a formal mental health diagnosis, as such our study design allows interrogation of the contexts and relationships which not only facilitate but also disrupt pathways to exclusion. It also allows reconsideration of assumptions of vulnerability which are often applied to care experienced YP. Our findings suggest that these YP are moving beyond ‘role playing’ the identities ascribed to them and actively seek out relationships which enable them to construct alternative identities.     

The RIX Wiki: the use of multimedia advocacy to support person-centred planning in a special needs secondary school – implications for current policy and practice

The article documents findings from a pilot study undertaken in 2012–2013 in a special needs secondary school in the England, that trialled the use of a multimedia advocacy tool, “The RIX Wiki”. The trial was part of the pathfinder programme, which aimed to reform existing Special Education Needs provision, from the system of statementing to one of developing education health care plans. The reforms became enshrined in the Children and Families Act (2014). The findings were overall positive and helped with person-centred planning processes. The discussion is framed within current and future policy directives. We argue that multimedia advocacy approaches and software tools, like the “RIX Wiki” will have a continued role to play in ensuring the needs, aspirations and choices of children and young people with learning disabilities remain central.     

The Mystery Room: discovering the flexibility of an information literacy-based educational escape room

Abstract

The Mystery Room is an educational escape room based on information literacy and applied to multiple audiences, including first-year students and library student employees. In this article, we explain how we developed the game, its theoretical underpinnings, and why it’s a flexible workshop for a variety of audiences.     

The effect of number of siblings and birth order on educational attainment: Empirical Evidence from Chinese General Social Survey

Data from China demonstrate that the effect of the number of siblings on education is restricted by many factors, such as children’s gender, urban or rural household registration, whether there is only one child, the birth order of children within the family, and parents’ status. Chinese families have significant preferences for the eldest son and the youngest son. Moreover, research based on the natural experiment and instrumental variable approach suggests that market-oriented reform of education has increased the cost of family education expenditures since China’s reform and opening up, which further aggravates the negative impact on education of having many siblings in an urban setting.     

赛艇技术诊断人机智能决策支持系统的研制与开发

针对目前赛艇技术诊断专家系统(RTDS)中存在的过分强调计算机的智能和人机功能的不协调问题，指出专家的一部分智能(指与专家经验有关的能力)与认识主体是不可分的，计算机是不能够代替专家的。认为只有人机合理分工，相互协调，才能从根本上提高决策支持系统的智能。研制人机智能决策支持系统的目的，就是为我国赛艇项目的技术训练提供一种切实可行的诊断方法。     

孔令辉正手近台反冲前冲弧圈球技术的运动学分析

运用三维摄影与影片解析技术，对孔令辉正手近台反冲前冲弧圈球技术进行了定量分析与研究，第一次较完整地阐述了横拍反胶快攻结合弧圈选手正手近台反冲前冲弧圈球技术的特点与规律，结果显示，该项技术具有动作幅度较小，瞬间发力集中，回球速度快等特点。     

对我国掷标枪后备人才最后用力投掷技术的探讨

对中国优秀青少年标枪运动员的技术进行分析,分析我国的青少年标枪运动员的掷标枪技术不十分理想。主要表现在:最后用力时的右脚着地发力不积极;左膝关节弯曲过大,并在出手时没有充分伸展;投掷手臂没有明显的延迟动作。     

普通高校体育课编班教学改革实验研究

体育课教学是高等学校体育工作的核心。教学质量的好坏直接影响学生的体质。但是 ,现行的班级体育授课制仍然是沿袭以智力、高考分数为核心 ,方便文化课教学的编班制进行体育课教学 ,这无疑影响学生体质的发展和终身体育思想的形成 ,而且给体育课教学带来许多困难。因此 ,从发展学生体质和培养终身锻炼习惯的实际需要出发 ,打破单纯按智力、分数的分班制是当前高校体育教学工作中亟待解决的问题。

我国优秀蹦床运动员网上非技术性位移的初步研究

采用文献资料、现场观察、专家访谈、数理统计等研究方法 ,对我国高水平蹦床运动员网上水平位移现象进行初步研究。认为位移过大是影响成套动作稳定性及动作质量的重要因素之一 ;位移过大与起跳技术和连接技术不合理有关 ,也与运动员原有项目技能的负迁移影响有关 ;网上位移表现为一定的方向性 ,向前空翻类动作的水平位移略小于向后空翻类动作的位移。
