Meeting Information Needs through Global Partnerships: A Roadmap to Becoming a Global Health Sciences Library

Abstract

Supporting global health priorities through the development of robust health science librarianship partnerships is of significant importance. Increased demand for synthesizing evidence-based information, collating quality resources, and increasing research productivity to improve human health requires integration of library and information science skills and expertise. The Health Sciences Library (HSL) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), exists to be an indispensable partner in health information and knowledge, teaching and learning, and research. As global efforts at UNC expanded, the HSL sought to ensure that our global engagement strategy and integration were aligned with campus priorities and partner needs. The HSL created a global research partnership plan: identify resources that improve efficiency, increase access to information, build in-country capacity and expertise—all while strengthening collaborations across multiple countries. Creating a meaningful and sustainable engagement strategy was central to envisioning our path forward and can be used as a framework for consideration by librarians in similar settings.     

The Influence of Hygroscopic Materials on the Fluctuation of Relative Humidity in Museums Located in Historical Buildings

ABSTRACT

The preservation of artefacts in museum collections is profoundly affected by fluctuations in temperature and, especially, relative humidity (RH). Since the late nineteenth century, many studies have been carried out on the best way to control hygrothermal conditions. In old buildings located in maritime temperate climate zones (such as Portugal) with strong thermal inertia, and which have low ventilation rate (relative to the volume and number of visitors), daily and seasonal hygroscopic inertia may help to assure the maintenance of RH stabilization conditions. The use of expensive active systems may be minimized through the passive behaviour of internal finishing building materials. This work presents the results of an experimental laboratory study conducted in a flow chamber to demonstrate the enormous potential of hygroscopic materials in stabilizing interior relative humidity. Based in these results and in-situ monitoring in a museum housed in a building, located in Porto, with a typical construction of the 1950s (granite masonry and reinforced concrete slabs), a numerical analysis was done to quantify the influence of hygroscopic materials in stabilizing the interior relative humidity.     

少数民族传统体育的基本成因及其特点

我国是一个多民族国家，各民族在历史的长河中，创造了灿烂的文化，而民族传统体育的产生是其传统文化的代表，渗透着民族历史发展的痕迹，它的发展也反映了各民族在自身的民族发展与壮大。本文就民族传统体育的历史演变过程及其特点进行分析，阐述了民族传统体育的基本内涵及所表达的美学价值，为民族传统体育的发展提供必要的参考。     

我国少数民族传统体育存在方式和存在基础的特征调查与近30年内逐步现代化的对策研究

为探索近30年内,我国少数民族传统体育的发展方向和发展对策,采用文献法、调查法和逻辑方法,发现了我国少数民族传统体育区别于现代体育的、现实的存在方式和存在基础的个性特征。得出了未来30年内,促进我国少数民族传统体育逐步现代化的对策主要是:通过行政力量主动介入而强化引导方式,在促进民俗活动和业余文化活动的开展中促进其发展;关注社会需求、坚持服务社会方向,更为充分挖掘和实现其课程资源、旅游资源和健身文化资源的价值;组织竞赛,借助竞赛的杠杆作用推动其持续发展。     

太极拳对老年人心肺机能的影响

通过系统观察、测试部分长年参加太极拳练习者和无训练者在完成定量负荷运动前后心肺功能指标变化,发现长期进行太板拳练习的老年人心脏泵血功能、心肌收缩机能、肺活量均显著优于普通人,表明长年从事太极拳运动对促进老年人心肺功能的改善具有积极作用,为老年人参加太极拳运动提供了可靠的实验依据.     

从2004年"华夏杯"全国健美操锦标赛六人操项目成绩看南京体院竞技健美操的发展与对策

运用文献资料法、数据统计分析法对2004年“华夏杯”全国健美操锦标赛竞技新人组六人操比赛前三名成绩得分和我院成绩的对比分析，提出我院竞技健美操总体水平属中等，发展缓慢，指出在今后的训练和编排中应加强运动员基本素质的训练和加强成套动作编排，突出难度、艺术性，追求完美。     

2004年全国青少年健美操锦标赛等级规定动作完成情况调研

对参加2004年全国青少年健美操锦标赛(西安赛区)各组别运动员规定成套动作的完成情况作了统计，分析了当前青少年健美操在我国的开展状况以及在训练中所存在的问题，旨在为健美操运动项目在我国更加广泛地开展与普及以及对其竞技后备人才的挖掘与培养提供客观依据。     

加强体力与提高部队战斗力--学习叶剑英《加强体力》一文

叶剑英元帅长期作为我军教育训练的领导者和组织者,历来对军队体育训练十分重视.他关于体力与战斗力,体力与脑力,体育与干部教育等关系的论述,都具有很强的现实意义.     

冷刺激和力竭运动对小鼠LPO及抗氧化能力的影响

探讨小鼠在冷刺激影响下作力竭性运动 ,肝脏、心脏、骨骼肌及大脑组织LPO水平及其抗氧化能力的影响。结果表明 ,冷刺激使力竭运动机体脂质过氧化水平升高 ,在心脏、骨骼肌及大脑组织中均有显著性差异 (P〈0 0 5 ) ,且各组织从低到高的排列顺序是 :大脑骨骼肌心脏肝脏 ;SOD活性基本不变 ,总抗氧化能力 (TAC)呈下降趋势 ,其中肝组织中呈显著性下降 (P〈0 0 5 ) ,其它组织无显著性差异 ,各组织的抗氧化能力从小到大的排列顺序是 :骨骼肌大脑心脏肝脏
