What is meant by inclusion? An analysis of European and North American journal articles with high impact

The purpose of this review is to further our knowledge about what is meant by inclusion in research addressing the topic. While it is common to remark that inclusion is defined in different ways in research, few attempts have been made to map and analyse different types of definitions and whether there are patterns to be find in how the concept is used. The 30 most cited journal articles from a North American and a European research arena were selected for analysis. Each article was analysed in relation to genre, theoretical tradition and inclusion concept used. The review yielded several important results. To name a few, a divide was identified between position articles, with developed discussions about and analyses of the meaning of inclusion, and empirical articles, where inclusion signifies that children with disabilities are placed in the mainstream. In addition, writing within a critical theoretical tradition was much more common among positional papers. Further, both arenas are dominated by Anglo-Saxon researchers. It is argued that the conceptual confusion characterising the field impedes its development.

LibQUAL+(™) Meets Strategic Planning at the University of Florida

Abstract

Effective strategic planning can help a library focus on a common sense of purpose and can steer the library in directions that respond to a changing environment. The University of Florida Libraries embarked on a series of strategic planning activities in June of 2001. The process of thinking strategically has produced a renewed interest in dependable information about users' perceptions of our service quality, and LibQUAL+(?) emerged as one of the key contributors to this process. Our experience with LibQUAL+(?) and with strategic planning has been gained simultaneously. We have found that it provides a structure to support further communication with our users. LibQUAL+(?) will continue to shape our thinking as we move toward more strategic management methods that enable us to make informed decisions regarding our allocation of resources.     

运用SMART原则优化项目教学过程探究

项目教学法作为一种典型的以学生为中心的教学方法,在中职学校的新课程改革中受到越来越多的关注。但是,许多教师由于项目目标设定不合理,直接或间接导致整个项目教学过程存在某些缺陷,在一定程度上影响了项目教学的实际效果。管理学科领域的SMART原则能够从具体性、衡量性、达成性、现实性、时限性几个方面对具体的项目教学设计及实施过程进行指导和优化,从而提高项目教学质量。     

基于C#和SMART的机器人涂胶装配工作站的设计与仿真

分析汽车挡风玻璃涂胶与装配的自动化过程,基于ABB仿真软件RobotStudio完成涂胶工作站的建模;用Visual Studio中的C#语言和RobotStudio的二次开发工具PC SDK开发上位机的控制应用程序,完成对工作站的控制;用RobotStudio的Smart组件构建虚拟控制系统,完成机器人涂胶工作站的仿真运行。结果证明,通过机器人涂胶仿真工作站的建模和ABB机器人的二次开发,可完成对机器人涂胶工作站的远程控制和仿真运行。     

智慧教室的概念及特征

智慧教室是一种典型的智慧学习环境,是学校信息化发展到一定阶段的内在诉求,是当今智慧学习时代的必然选择。本文首先分析了当前多媒体及网络教室面临的教学困境,认为重构教室环境、创建适合学生学习和教师教学的新型教室环境是一种必然趋势,充分利用传感技术、人工智能技术、网络技术、富媒体技术等来装备教室和改善学习环境成为一个必然选择。其后,本文提出智慧教室的智慧性应体现在内容呈现(Showing)、环境管理(Manageable)、资源获取(Accessible)、及时互动(Real-time Interactive)和情境感知(Testing)五个方面;最后,文章分析了"高清晰"、"深体验"和"强交互"三种典型智慧教室的特征。     

SMART education technologies in mathematics teacher education - ways to integrate and progress that follows integration

ABSTRACT

SMART Education Technologies (SET) are already in place to provide teachers with different software packages and technologies to facilitate their teaching. However, when it comes to mathematics teaching in Russia, the situation here is different as the articulation of such SET in the Russian context is inadequate. This study redefines mathematics teacher education with smart technologies and identifies IT competencies that are needed to cope with the redefined curriculum. The designed course programme was implemented in the Elabuga Pedagogical Institute, involving 7 teachers from the Institute, 123 students (trainee teachers) and 5 schoolteachers (experts) to keep a professional eye on the learning experience. To evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum, a survey was carried out among teachers and experts. The survey questionnaire captured the progress made in competence development alongside three modules. The progress that students were making throughout the course was evaluated at the ‘mock teaching’ lesson, where students presented their individually prepared parts of a lesson on a given topic using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The way the learning process was organised encouraged students to use various software packages to handle maths-related problems. The research results showed that the SET learning path was flexible and allowed modification of the instructional strategy to better meet the needs of individual learners.
