The RIX Wiki: the use of multimedia advocacy to support person-centred planning in a special needs secondary school – implications for current policy and practice

The article documents findings from a pilot study undertaken in 2012–2013 in a special needs secondary school in the England, that trialled the use of a multimedia advocacy tool, “The RIX Wiki”. The trial was part of the pathfinder programme, which aimed to reform existing Special Education Needs provision, from the system of statementing to one of developing education health care plans. The reforms became enshrined in the Children and Families Act (2014). The findings were overall positive and helped with person-centred planning processes. The discussion is framed within current and future policy directives. We argue that multimedia advocacy approaches and software tools, like the “RIX Wiki” will have a continued role to play in ensuring the needs, aspirations and choices of children and young people with learning disabilities remain central.     

‘Teaching’ the path towards university: understanding student access through storied-futures and meritocratic grand narratives

The notion that the stories of our lives shape dispositions towards imagined futures is another lens through which university underrepresentation should be viewed. A storied lens attends to how futures, like university attendance, are storied during childhood to the extent that some youth imagine, and therefore plan, these futures as natural progression. Such was the case for study participants, indicating that childhood stories contain answers for mitigating social reproduction connected to parental education and cultural forces within the home. Examining social mobility through the underexplored storied-futures grand narrative presents unique solutions that lay hidden within the dominant meritocratic grand narrative.     

Pupil participation: the NASEN policy

NASEN is to be congratulated for developing a Policy on Pupil Participation (NASEN, 2004). The importance of developing this practice has been increasingly recognised over recent years by policy makers, practitioners and researchers. In this short article I shall address some of the issues that the development of such a policy raises. Although generally welcoming NASEN's initiatives and similar actions by other organizations, I consider it important also to review the issue more broadly.

文章通过对高职商务英语专业学生阅读中难句翻译理解错误的分析及其与阅读理解得分之间的相关分析，发现翻译错误与阅读理解高度正相关；母语参与阅读理解思维活动有利于学习者对原文的理解；在影响学习者阅读理解的各因素中，词汇影响最大；中国学生在阅读理解中，对某些结构和词汇的省略并不会对阅读理解造成重大影响。     

对我国体育人口游泳参与状况的探析

运用“1997年中国城乡居民参与体育活动情况调查问卷”的结果报告及研究成果有关数据，分析我国不同年龄体育人口游泳参与率的变化趋势，结果表明：游泳成为我国青年、壮年阶段体育人口所喜爱的健身项目；我国体育人口游泳参与率随年龄增长呈下降趋势；我国男子体育人口游泳渗与率在不同年龄阶段均高于女性。     

统一的环境法精神探微

传统的环境法是由自然资源 (包括能源 )法、污染防治法、自然保护法三个不同的法域组成的部门法 ,三个法域各自着眼点并不相同 ,以至于难以形成环境保护的合力。资源保护、污染防治以及自然保护对公益衡平的价值追求和对环境保全的共同目标追求使得现代环境法形成统一的精神成为可能。这种精神应是 :在考虑到环境承载力的前提下 ,实现人类的可持续发展。

运用中国群众体育现状调查的数据以及其他社会统计资料，对中国知识分子健康状况和体育参与情况做了全面评析，否定了中国知识分子健康状况进一步恶化的错误结论，澄清了20世纪90年代以来有关中国知识分子健康问题的认识。     

公共治理视野下公共图书馆的经费问题

经费短缺是公共图书馆发展的瓶颈。政府拨款是图书馆的主要经费来源。但图书馆是公共物品，公众的事务公众办。争取政府较多的投入要靠公众对图书馆治理的参与。解决公共图书馆经费问题要实现从行政依赖的“图书馆管理模式”向公众参与的“图书馆治理模式”转型。通过图书馆立法、健全图书馆行业组织、公众参与图书馆治理等几方面努力，改善图书馆的法治环境，解决图书馆财政困难，实现公众参与的和谐社会目标。
