The Cultural Factors in L2 Learning Strategies

From the five aspects of the traditional skill - oriented idea, the experience - based thinking, the language - as - tool view, the face theory, the cultural blanks and conflicts, this paper explores two issues: the cultural influences on the formation of L2 learners' beliefs and their strategy uses, and the relationship between the social cultures and the L2 learning strategies, and suggests that the culture awareness is crucially important in the development of the intercultural communicative competence and the strategic competence.
