| 摘 要： | 在言语交际的过程中,有些词语或表达会让人尴尬、使人不悦、甚至造成恐慌。若我们直接把意思表达出来,既达不到所要的交际效果,又给人留下不良印象,委婉语因此产生,它向我们展示了其语言所在国人民的文化风貌、思维模式、价值观念和道德观念等。本篇文章先从两方面剖析英语委婉语形成的根源,再借助语用学的相关知识研究其在社会生活的功能。

| Abstract: | In every society,a few words make someone embarrassed,unhappy of fear when used in communication.If we express the meaning in a direct way,we will give such impression as vulgar,frivolousness and impoliteness.Euphemism conveys a lot about the society and culture in which it exits.This paper studies the origin of English Euphemism and its pragmatic function in social life. |
