Setting up A Special Phrase Corpus for EFL Teaching By Using Natural Language Processing Technology

Corpus can provide enormous sources for language analysis, research work, dictionary compiling as well as language teaching. The author believes that setting up a special phrase corpus will facilitate EFL learning and teaching. The phrase corpus comprises set phrases and collocation phrases, which are carefully screened out according to certain criteria. With the help of the concordance tool software available, teachers as well as learners are able to search phrase information quickly and accurately from it. In the paper, the author stresses the necessity of setting up such a phrase corpus, and suggests the principles and method of setting up it. She also describes the prospects of its wide application in foreign language teaching. We hope the paper can attract more attention on the phrase corpus-based language teaching.
