Opening and closing mouth is a symmetrical system that describes a pronunciation condition of the Chinese rhyme.It is important and distinct characteristic of the phonetics quality.The development of the phonetics system is embod- ied in the changes of opening and closing mouth.Thus,it contributes to uncovering the law of the phonetics development.By analyzing the changes of opening mouth and closing mouth of the phonetic system from the aspect of dental sound from medi- aeval times to Ming and Qing dynasty,we can uncover this circumstance of the phonetic evolution in this period from one side.
