Strengthening Human Resources for Technologies of the Twenty-first Century: UNESCO Engineering Education and Training Programme
Authors:BORIS BERKOVSKI  CHARLES M GOTTSCHALK
Abstract:UNESCO's Engineering Education and Training programme is concerned with the growing demand for clean and economical energy. For the power/energy engineer of today the need for up-to-date information in engineering and technologies of renewables has never been greater. Increasing global demand and safety, environmental implications of cleanliness, health and safety, the economic viability of natural energy resources and renewable energy technologies, the ethical responsibility of engineers towards society and conservation are all components of UNESCO's interdisciplinary approach to advanced college students, postgraduates and practising engineers. Priority actions in the various energy fields are addressed, including the assessment of specific education and training needs and the capabilities of existing institutions to meet these needs.
