对红河哈尼族来说,糯米饭不仅是美味食物,而且还是民族精神的支柱。红河哈尼族不仅创造了独具特色的山地梯田稻作文化,成为中国南方稻作文化典范。而且至今仍保留有与梯田稻作相关的祭祀、风俗、礼仪等,其中,糯米祭祀神灵是中国传统的稻作祭祀文化中的古老习俗。这一习俗至今仍然保留在红河哈尼族祭祖、祭山、祭寨神以及与农业相关的祭祀活动中,成为研究我们稻作祭祀的活化石。
