无地守望:霍尔顿的精神之旅——论塞林格《麦田里的守望者》

小说《麦田里的守望》写的是一个第三次被学校开除的少年霍尔顿,因不敢贸然回家,而在纽约城游荡的一天两夜。他的这一次不愉快的旅行,实际上是一次拒绝现代社会的堕落、虚伪和冷酷,寻求精神家园的“精神之旅”。不同于古希腊尤利西斯的在漂泊中寻求回归家园之路,霍尔顿这个现代尤利西斯,因为与这个世界的格格不入而无处可归。他无法守望自己的理想,也无处可以逃避现实,只能放弃自己的精神追求而回归世俗生活。

No Where to Catch: Hilliton's Spiritual Journey--On Salinger's " Catcher in the Rye "

The novel "Catcher in the Rye" is about a boy, Hilliton, who is afraid of going home ,thus spends a whole day and two nights wandering in New York after he has been expelled from school for three times. This unpleasant journey ,actually, is a spiritual one which refuses the degeneration ,false hood,and unfeeling of the society. Unlike Ullyses in ancient Greek who is on his journey home, Hilliton , the modern Ullyses is wandering because he has no where to go in this incompatible world. He finds no where to catch his ideal, to escape the reality . All he can do is to give up his ideal and go back to the worldly life.
