The Application of Translation Method to English Writing Instruction

For decades,the Grammar-Translation Method has been blamed as the major contributing factor leading to the low linguistic competence of EFL learners.However,with the development of the teaching approach,the role of translation in aiding college EFL learners cannot be ignored.Therefore,this paper concerns the application of translation in the teaching of writing,which is demonstrated in three aspects: using translation to enlarge vocabulary;using translation to guide the writing;using translation to appraise the writing.
