Cultural Differences and Literary Translation

In this thesis, cultural differences in literary translation and Six Chapters of a Floating Life will be explored first, and then the influences of cultural differences on literary translation will be discussed in the detailed aspects through the case study of English version of Six Chapters of a Floating Life by Lin Yutang. A correct understanding of the cultural backgrounds, a precise expression and a successful fulfillment of the cultural transmission could produce a satisfactory translation.
