“没有学术大师时代”的反思

未能产生学术大师,是当代中国文化面临的最为严峻的时代问题。造成这种局面的原因固然很多,但其中重要的一条是,我们在整个教育体制、课程设置、教学内容、教材编写等方面都出现了严重的问题,导致绝大多数的学生与学者既不能"博古通今",也不能"学贯中西",如此一来,自然也就无法培养出学术大师。要求学生直接阅读中外文原著,不用今译汉译,也许是改变此种局面的有效途径之一。

Reflection on the Era without any Academic Great Master

It is a very serious cultural problem that no great academic master arises in the contemporary China. It mostly results from the fact that there is something wrong with our educational system, curriculum designs, teaching contents, teaching materials and so on, so most students and scholars are neither erudite nor informed, and do not know well either Chinese or western culture. Thus there is no great academic master. An effective way to solve this problem maybe is to demand students reading directly Chinese and foreign classical books without any modern or native translations.
