Seeking the Truth:Passing Through the Maze of Power and Women--the Theme of Hamlet''''s Growth

This paper discusses Hamlet's growth, which is in essence a process of constant pursuit and justification of truth in a maze. Here truth means not only the confirmation of and revenge on the murderer, but also Hamlet's inquiry into and examination of such key topics in the adult world as power and women. Therefore, those barriers or puzzles in probing the truth have become good opportunities which facilitate a major turning point in his life, and the process of truth discovery acts as a ritual of maturity from a child to an adult. Hamlet's philosophy of life is intrinsically reconstructed in probing truth and taking revenge. It is accomplished by the cycle and symbols of life, death and rebirth, and happens to coincide metaphorically with the transformation and revival of his inner world in the process of his growth, just like a rising maze in spirals.
