市场经济条件下的美德与自由

在现代市场经济条件下，所有市场主体都必须以最大限度地获取利益为职业要求，而美德所特有的利他主义和自我牺牲精神又是人类超越狭隘性的崇高追求和意义关怀，现代人既不能脱离市场经济制度而生存，也不能抛弃美德完全沉迷于物质利益追求，因此，市场经济的生活背景使美德对人的自由的价值不能通过任何形式的强制性制度安排来实现，而必须限定在私人领域之中。

Virtue and Freedom in a Market Economy

In a market economy, obtaining profits to a maximum degree is the professional demand of everyone while altruism and the spirit of self-sacrifice is the lofty pursuit and concern of human being to surpass his narrowness. Modern people cannot exist without a market economic system, neither can they totally indulge themselves in the pursuit of material interests by throwing away virtue, so, in the background of a market economy, virtue cannot be forced upon human freedom in any form and cannot be obtained through the arrangement of any compulsory system, it must be limited within the individual range.
