Abstract: | The present study is based on a 50% sample of the three relevant journals and considers both articles and reviews. The contributions on educational themes are related to the changing scope of the sociology of education, and are examined both in their own right, and in comparison with those in the sociology of industry/work. On the whole, education fared quite well in the three sociology journals throughout the period, while among the writers, university employees predominated, with few from the colleges of education. A special feature of the article is a section on unsuccessful submissions presenting data over several years obtained in confidence from one of the periodicals. |
