Knots

In this article¹ the reader is introduced to some basic notions ofknot theory, including the use of the ‘skein relations’ in computing the celebrated (one-variable) polynomial invariant of knots (and more generally, of links or ‘multi-component knots’) which was discovered by Vaughan Jones more than a dozen years ago.
