The Role of First Language in Linguistic and Social-cultural Dimensions

Since last century, it has long been universally acknowledged agreed that the infl uence imposed by fi rst language(L1) on the learner's development of second language(L2) learning is greatly unstable. In this paper, literature review is firstly given adequate thoughts to before the learning process is explored in the linguistic and social-cultural dimensions in terms of target language development.
