| Abstract: | The integrated meaning of a compound noun is generally motivated through the combined lexical meanings of its components together with their semantic relations.This paper exemplifies the motivations in English compound nouns from the angles of lexicology,syntax and semantics,which aims at helping English learners interpret the meaning of compound nouns correctly and thus enlarge their vocabulary. |
