| Abstract: | An analysis is made about the understanding of a text with the help of the cognitive context and about the application of the cognitive context to the teaching of English reading.The ideas of making use of learners' cognitive context to improve their English reading ability and of putting their cognitive subject into play to rebuild the cognitive context in the teaching of reading are put forward. |
