| Abstract: | The post of department head is the basic-level management post in universities. It has multiple functions, including academic study, teaching, discipline and administration. The selection of a department head is the result of the interaction between academic power and administrative power, therefore, the department head usually possesses a dual status: a scholar as well as an administrator. |
