| Abstract: | This article holds that Beacon fire and smoke of wolves' dung was an alarm system of ancient strategic passes at the border rather than single beacon towers, and proves "beacon fire lit at night and smoke of wolves' dung burnt in the day time" by the inscribed bamboo slips of Han dynasty. |
