The author of this article wants to know Yuan Jiagu once again from the following three aspects: 1. The special royal examination in economics chose the talents according to their articles on policies, but the usual royal examination chose talents according to their articles which should corresponded to the frame set up by the emperor, so the first place of the examination in economics was much stronger than the first place of the usual examination; 2. He worried about the people and the country, and had a deep understanding of the current affairs home and abroad; 3. He adopted a critical attitude toward the policy where agriculture got more attention than trade, and had a deeper understanding of trade.
