浅谈英汉翻译实践中的文化因素

语言是文化的重要组成部分,它既是文化的一种表现形式,又是一种社会文化现象。语言既像一面镜子反映着民族的全面文化,又像一个窗口提示着该文化的一切内容,而文化又是语言赖以生存的基础,是语言新陈代谢的生命源泉。基于语言的复杂内涵,在英汉翻译的实践中,就不能只着眼于语言转换,而要透过语言表层,了解其深层内涵和文化涵义。翻译者必须深入探明翻译内容所涉及到的原语和目标语的文化特征及其差异,运用各种翻译技巧方法,译出既保持异国情调,又为读者所接受的最自然的最接近原义的译文。

A Brief Analysis of Cultural Elements in the Practice of English and Chinese Translation

Language is the important part of human culture. It is both a sort of manifestation of human culture and a sort of cultural phenomenon of society where human beings live. Language is just like a mirror reflecting an overall culture of the nations; at the same time, language looks like a window pointing out all the contents of its culture. Culture is the basis on which language depends, the life of sources of language metabolism. Based upon the complex connotation of language, in the practice of English and Chinese translation, translators not only emphasize the language transformation but also the better understanding of the depth of its connotation and cultural implication through having insight into the surface of language. Translators are required to explore deeply the cultural characteristics and its distinctions of both source language and target language concerned with the contents of translation, and adopt the different methods of skills of translation for the purpose of getting the exotic style of translation as well as the most natural translation close to the original that the readers have accepted.
