On Consistency of Chaucer's Women's Images with Their Era

This paper analyses women characters in the works of Geoffrey Chaucer,one of the most famous writers and poets in the Middle Ages,and shows how their images accorded with their time.The analysis shows that these women mainly have negative images of unfaithfulness and wordiness;and such images are consistent with men’s views of women at that time.Besides,the depiction of these women also shows Chaucer’s reflections on reason and humanity and his expectation for a brighter future,as a representative progressive writer in the Middle Ages.
