摘    要:从殖民地时期起至今,美国高等教育在民族结构、个人主义哲学、实用主义、民主多样等文化传统的影响下,通过广泛的比较借鉴和创新发展经历了教育现代性的萌生、教育现代化的基奠、教育现代化的快速推进和纵深发展四个基本阶段,并被刻上了实用、民主、创新、多元的"文化教育烙印",呈现出四大发展特征。

Analysis of National Cultural Tradition and the Modernization of Higher Education in the United States

Abstract:Since the colonial times, American higher education has been influenced by ethnic demography, individualism, pragmatism, democracy and pluralism. By comparing and drawing on successful experiences in developing higher education, the United State witnessed modernization of its own higher education in four stages from its initiation, its basis formation, its rapid advances and its further development, which is characterized by pragmatism, democracy, innovation and diversity, and four development characteristics. Research on the development of American tertiary education served to deepen our understanding of higher education reform and development.
