金代词学宗师刘

刘为金代著名学者,首位词赋状元,当时名士多出于其门下,号称“一世师宗”。他三次出任大理寺官,不屈于权贵,为许多冤案平反。尤长于治民,兴利除弊,施政有条理,简便可持久。子孙多由科举入仕,为金代有名的科举世家。

Liu Wei: A Great Master on Verse in Jin Dynasty

Liu Wei, who got a first in the highest imperial examination, was a famous scholar in Jin Dynasty. He, as the first literal master whose essays and poems were very beautiful and splendid then, had taught a lot of students who became elitists and officials afterwards. He had taken up the post of a lord chancellor three times, and corrected a great deal of unjust verdicts without yielding to the influential officials. He loved the people like his children, and had a simple and proper presentation in managing government's affairs. Most of his posterities were engaged in government affairs. His family, in which there were a good many scholars and officials, was praised as 'the family of the imperial examination' at that time.
