小学外语教学应注重体现教育教养功能

传统的教学由于受语言工具论的影响将培养学生的语言技能视为外语教学的目的。现在看来，这种教学观失之偏颇。本作提出，在小学基础教育阶段外语教学也应承担起提高全民素质的重任。在培养学生的语言技能和交际能力的同时还要注重发挥其教育教养功能。中就小学外语教育教养功能的主要内容以及如何在教学中体现这一功能进行了探讨。

Making the Most of the Function of Education and Cultivation in Elementary English Teaching

Traditional foreign language teaching, influenced by the theory of language as a communicative tool, aimed at training students' language skills, which is now thought to be one - sided view of foreign language teaching. The authors of this paper put forth that foreign language teaching at the elementary stage of education should share the responsibility of enhancing the all - round quality of the whole nation. It follows that emphasis should be put on the function of education and cultivation in foreign language teaching as well as on the development of students' language skills and communicative competence . Then they discuss what the essential elements of the function are at the elementary stage and how to put into practice this function of education and cultivation.
