Abstract: | Andrew D. Osborn has had three separate, successful careers. From 1920 to 1962 he practiced as a librarian in Australia and the United States earning an international reputation in cataloguing and serials work. From 1962 to 1971 he taught full-time in library schools in the United States and Canada. From 1971 to 1977 he operated as an antiquarian bookseller in Sydney, Australia. This article comments especially on the high significance for Australian librarianship of the four short years he spent at the University of Sydney 1958-62, at the end of his first career. |
