Archives Under Library Administration |
| |
Abstract: | Archives and library administrators perceive each other's operations and administration differently, which leads to conflicts and misunderstandings. Librarians often do not recognize basic distinctions in broad mission and more specific objectives, operations and procedures, and personnel differences, separating archives from libraries as types of information organizations. Professional alliance and mutual interests should not overshadow these divergent traditions and approaches to information systems. Better understanding of the distinctiveness of archives from a library might improve relations and help avoid internal managerial conflicts. |
