| Abstract: | "Polite Speech" is one of the most important principles in the research of Pragmatics. By using polite speech, people achieve communicative purposes smoothly in daily life situations. This article introduces the gradation and appropriateness of polite speech with illustrations of its proper applications in different cultural contexts. Thus, the relationship between polite speech and gradation of communicative loss and benefit is to be demostrated. |
