| 摘 要： | 在翻译中,"individualism"被译成"个人主义",使人们容易产生曲解,误认其为贬义词,是"自私自利"、"利己主义"的代名词.其实,英语"individualism"是个中性词,它可译成为"个体主义"或"个性主义",可与"实现自我价值"、"强化个人竞争意识"等概念联系起来,符合当今世界发展趋势,也符合语言发展的规律.换言之,也是人权思想的具体反映.实际上,以个人为本位的"individualism"与以群体为本位的集体主义是中西方文化在人生价值观上的直面撞击.

| Abstract: | In translation,"individualism" is misinterpreted as an equivalent to privatism and thus distorted as a derogatory word,meaning selfishness.As a matter of fact,"individualism" is a neutral word,which can refer to realizing one's own value or strengthening one's competitive awareness.This is a world trend and accords with the rule of languages' development.In other words,individualism reflects on human rights.In reality,the individualism-oriented western culture collides with collectivism-oriented Chinese culture in life values.This thesis attempts to probe into the history and current situation of the individualism-oriented western culture in hope of conducting a just and fair assessment of it. |
