2000年10月由中国大百科全书出版社推出的<中国大百科全书>光盘,集74卷全书的内容于一体,涵盖66个学科,有8万个条目,5万余幅图片,堪称一座小型家庭图书馆.它还具有分类目录检索、拼音目录检索、外文目录检索等10余种检索功能,深受用户欢迎.美中不足的是,其外文目录的编排显得忠实有余,规范不足.

On editing of the foreign language indexes in Encyclopedia of China CD-ROM

In October, 2000, the Encyclopedia of China Press published the Encyclopedia of China CD-ROM which contains all the contents of 74 volumes of books, covers 66 academic disciplines, and boasts 80 thousand entries and over 50 thousand pictures. It is exactly like a small-sized family library. And what is more, it has a dozen of index searching functions such as classified index search, pinyin index search and foreign language index search. Therefore, it enjoys a wide acclaim among its users. Anyhow, it has a disadvantage that the editing of the foreign language indexes is mechanically faithful to the original and is not so well standardized.
