Rashdi: A Tragic Figure in the Crack Between the Oriental and Occidental Culture

In this post colonial age characteristic of the co exi stence of polygeneous cultures and the tendency of globalization, "writers in non native language" have risen suddenly as a new group and made significant achiev ements. As a representative of such writers, Rashdi pushed his way from "the bo undary" to "the centre" and became a world class literary star. However, owing to the cultural influence of his suzerain state, he betrayed the traditional culture of his own nation and completely changed his cultural identity. Simply as a loudspeaker of the Orientalist theory, he performed a negative cultural function to intensify the conflicts between Oriental and Occidental cultures. His tragedy presents a painful warning to the world.
